Supporters letter to Boswell campaign re: Boswell letter to constituents
Mr.
Ourth,
For the record, I find this email
and message
offensive in the
extreme. I am a member of the
Polk
County Democrats Central Committee and
I've
contributed and worked for Congressman
Boswell in the
past - as I felt strongly
that a Democrat should
represent the 3rd
District - but this sort of
blatant
pandering and fear-mongering is
beneath him, and
beneath the
Party.
Ed Fallon is a principled public
servant. His vote
for Ralph Nader
was -hardly- the tipping point for
Nader's
candidacy -- Nader's message,
however
misguided and ultimately petty in
focus, spoke to a
number of people who felt
disenfranchised by an
increasingly
corporatized and submissive
Democratic
Party. Although I
hated the outcome, I couldn't
entirely blame
them for their frustration.
Recent
changes in the party and the country
have
thankfully renewed many members' energy
and drive to
make the party stronger than
ever, but this sort of
divisive,
fear-mongering, pointless attack is
exactly
what turns people back off and keeps
them from
becoming engaged. It
does not help party unity, nor
does it
reflect well on the Congressman, whose
long
service I respect.
Ultimately, I
will help to elect in November
whichever
Democratic candidate wins the
nomination in June, as I
continue to believe
that a Democrat is the best person
to
represent the 3rd District. I
cannot, however, sit
idly by and allow this
sort of vicious attack to go
uncommented
upon.
Congressman Boswell is a man of
dignity and
compassion. Please
reflect that in his
campaign.
Sincerely,
Louise
